Vermeer Still Life

I know there's no Girl with a Pearl Earring at the ironing board but when I took this image and brought it into LR the first thing I thought was "Vermeer" because of the window and the lighting. I used Nik Color Efex Soft Focus, then light Topaz Painting Venice and a slight canvas texture and finally a very slight Nik Color Efex Vignette to enhance the look.

So perfect for Vermeer, echoing both his setting and his touch. He's one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing. I can tell this is a very old building (a museum?) because the window is not aligned....seems to be leaning out. Sharp detail in the jars and the strings on the ironing board.

I like the scene and the light from the window. The rich browns, the red, and the dark shadows look very Vermeer. He seemed to favor yellows, too, so I tried saturating and lightening them with a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. That didn't seem enough, so I used a relatively high-density yellow Photo Filter adjustment layer over the entire image. While I was at it, I straightened the posts on the left and right and the shelves with the Warp feature in Transform.

Another pic with perfect control of light. Was this also HDR, or single?

Mitch, thank you. It was an in camera 3 image HDR but with the 5D Mark II the HDR image is processed as a jpg. I always opt to save the 3 unprocessed images and I used one of them for this particular image.:S3:

Hazel, thank you. This image was shot at Dudley Farm State Park, a wonderful recreation of the Dudley homestead and working farm. It has a remarkable volunteer crew who keep up the gardens, both kitchen and flower. They have mules and do cane grinding in the fall to make syrup - it's really a very cool place to visit and to photograph:S3: If you're ever in Florida let me know and I'd be glad to take you there.

The light and colors are lovely. It does have a Vermeer feel to it. I think the vertical lines need to be straightened, as done by Dennis. This is a lovely composition.
