I dusted off my IR converted 30D on Friday and on the way out the door shot this image. It's the walkway going to my driveway from the front door. It looks much better in IR than in person:S3: I did some burning on the path and the wood to darken them a bit and a very, very slight vignette on the lower half.

This has a wonderful range of tones and textures. In a setting like this, IR can work real magic in the right hands.
You probably shouldn't read the rest of this unless you don't mind not ever being able to view this image the same way, again. The more I looked at it, the more I liked the curved outline of the white against the dark in the upper left. And I really liked the broad leaves along the right edge just below the center. So I decided to try a mirror image with the current right edge being the axis of symmetry. What happened next was completely unexpected. There's a b'ar in them thar hills!
I like the image, very dreamy. I still haven't gotten any of my old cameras converted but soon I will. I might have cloned out the metal gate in the distance, but thats just me.
Dennis, funny you should say that - I had a black bear who visited the property once, tore up my birdfeeders, broke down a fence to get to my garbage cans and today when I was walking to get the newspaper I thought I saw a bear track in the driveway:eek3:

Here's the bear. (I like the idea of the gate as another layer into the scene. But also because it helps make the eyes.)

I love the scene in IR, it is very dreamy and other-worldly! Makes me want to go down the path. I don't see a bear in Dennis' version, sorry Dennis.

HI Cheryl....This is a beautiful image. I like it alot.....It does have a dreamy feel that I respond to. I also enjoyed your composition...simple but lovely!
It took me a moment to see the bear, but it helps to know that the gates make the eyes. Very vivid imagination, Dennis!
Cheryl, I really like the dark, graphic gateway as a focal point for all the curved overlapping lines of the white foliage. I agree the farthest gate adds another layer and it gives your eye something to just see in the distance, making you want to go down the path more.
