Just as I promised last week, I am uploading another image of this series of northern potoo. Yes I know, the perch is overpowering, but there was nothing I could do about it.

neat looking bird. I think the perch goes with it as they have similar texture. details looks a bit contrasty and harsh

Thanks Arash for you quick input! is that contraty and harsh look from contrast and/or sharpening too much?

I think it is from sharpening and a contrasty curve during RAW conversion. would reprocess this one lowering the contrast and using finer sharpening radius

I like the perch too, complements the bird. Great BG. Cool looking bird. Head turn towards the camera would be the only improvement, but as we know, shooting birds is a bit like " a box of chocolates...". Nice work.

I am fine with the perch. Love the bird and the BKGR. Arash is too smart: too bright and too contrasty. Try a reverse S curve....

Sweet looking bird, love that big yellow eye. I think the perch is excellent here, not over powering at all. I agree with the
previous comment regarding the perch's similarities with the subject. A bit more room on top would be nice imo.

I do agree about the high contrast. Looking forward to seeing the reprocessed image.

Great looking bird, nice capture. I would add more canvas to the top. Also, the perch looks oversharpened.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.
Arthur, I will try a reverse curve for sure!
That harsh light must be there in the RAW file since I did, in fact, reduced the light a tad. I will have to give this image a try and will upload the results, hopefully to make it look better.
