Hmmmm, wish more of the face was in the clear.
I'm impressed the focus didn't shift to the reeds in front. Was this AF or MF?

Could it be called contrast? What camera are you using and what AF setting?
Could be it center AFed before you hit the reeds and stayed locked because it saw it as the primary contrast just long enough for you to pull the trigger. Luck was involved but like I say "the harder I try, the luckier I get." NIce shot.
