While doing a marsh bird survey this past weekend I got distracted by some nesting Saltmarsh Sparrows. I counted at least 11 birds, some singing quite a bit. Although I had my camera with me for documentation purposes and wasn't really out looking for good photos, I couldn't help but taking some time to get a few good frames of these birds.

Canon EF 100-400 mm F/4.5-5.6 L IS

Focus point was manually moved up two points as the bird was too close for center point. 95+% of original frame.
Great to get one of these guys out in the open ... nice pose and excellent detail

Lovely light on this one Ryan, but the image looks soft on my monitor, the image has been scaled from 1,024px × 658px to 1,012px × 650px, I have noticed this on other images posted recently also.

Great job here. Low angle and beach setting. Details look good and image size is the proper 1024 x 658 from my end.

Thanks all!
I'm not really sure what's up with the image in the thread though. When I download the image to my computer (the exact one displayed in the thread), it looks absolutely perfect. When I look at it embedded in the thread, it looks SUPER SUPER soft (must be the way Joe Murphy is seeing it too). This does not appear to be the case for the rest of you though. When I look at it on my work computer, it looks fine. Very odd!
