Tufted Duck

This duck was cleaning itself for quite a while and when they do clean themselves, they often flap with their wings for a second or two. It is just a matter of waiting.
I wish I had a lower angle but there was a hedgerow between me and the duck.

Does the blur in the wings work? I was thinking about freezing it but that would have meant using ISO 3,200 or similar and
this is not really an option with the 7D, at least not with a bird that has a lot of black.

Shot in the Nymphenburger Park in Munich.

EOS 7D, 4/500L + 1.4x. About 60% crop of original. ISO 640, 1/1250, f7.1

It works for me Markus, and you have excellent detail in the dark plumage on the neck. I would perhaps apply a little NR to the background and just see if it was possible to get a tad more detail in the feathers on the head.

The amount of blur works for me, but the actual wing positions not as much...not a huge fan of the "pancake" look on this type of wing angle. I'd also back down on the contrast, here you have both some hot whites and blocked blacks, both certainly fixable in raw. Good details elswhere, and I like the water drops on the duck's body.

Blured wing do Markus however might have prefered them slightly less blur. Agree with NR on BG and more detail in the black areas. I do love the birds pose though TFS:cheers:

An odd pose for sure. Whites look OK from here.
