Piping Plover chick with oof adult

I wonder what others think of this. I have plenty of images with isolated chicks and thought I would save this one.

D800 with 600 VR + 1.4 tc. 1/1000 at 5.6 iso 800.

Juxtaposition images can be a challenge, but I feel this one works. Although I generally like matching body positions, with the tiny check, this works for me.

The big feet are cute

I might very lightly tone down the right leg of the parent, as seen in the frame, so that it doesn't pull us in so quickly, want our eye to go to the chick first, and then wander about the image.

I might sharpen the chicks head a sliver.

I like the chick and the low angle. OOF birds in the background usually bother me.
But don't pay too much attention to me as long as you like it it is the most important.

Myself I would of preferred a bit more dof to make the parent bird a little clearer, just a bit too ghostly for my tastes...but personal tastes mean little. A little more sharpen to the chick would also work I think. Nice shot nonetheless, and not an easy composition to get, so pretty well done in my books

I think this works very well Allan. The chick looks like it is gaining independance, but always under the watchful eye of a nearby parent. I agree with sharpening the little fella more, especially the eye and bill, but all else looks great as is IMO.

Put me in the + category on this one. . I like the position of the both subjects in the frame. Agree with Randy's tweaks which I believe will make the image stronger. Good thinking on your part to see and create this image.
