I have taken this 2 weeks ago at suikerbosrand N. R. south off Johannesburg
This lady was taking off into strong wind I think the wind's the reason for the open wing T O normally they TO in a dive.
I can not believe there is still wing blur at 1/4000 sec but there is
I dit sharpening,up the saturation by 1 for a tad more colour and gave it a 20% corp.

One of thos images I find difficult to crop as it seems as high as it is wide. I wonder if a tighter crop or vertical would be a nice alternative. I like the wing position and great detail on the body. I don't mind the motion blur but that is surprising considering the ss.

Nice BG and light.
I wish for a bit more of a head turn,

Hi Johan, great meeting you at AR the other weekend. I like the detail and colours on the chat, together with the swept back wing position. Killer sweet BG. Comp wise, I would add a bit to the bottom if you have, and just take a touch off the top. I agree moving to your left may have given you a better angle. :w3

Nice pose and BG. Pity it is not looking a bit more to your way. Well done.

Sweet bg, gorgeous light and pose. Perch is nice too. Head turned our way would have taken this image up few more notches. TFS.

I too am surprised at why there is still motion blur at 1/4000...however I dont think it spoils the image, but adds life to it rather than being static....liking the earthy colors and under wing fine detail

Despite the less than favourable HA , still an excellent image,Johan.Great timing to get these very fast wings in open position.Yes, also surprised at wing blur at 1/4000.

agree its an excellent image. Ha noted but not always possible in the field. I am fine with the blur. not easy to get sharp wings for small birds. One need to stop down and have a very very high SS. we should thank the modern DSLRs with good high ISO performance that it is at least something now everyone can aim for.
