I had a great morning shooting with Doug Brown at Palo Alto Baylands, CA and got luck enough with this Curlew. Thanks, Doug! Slightly cropped, I wish it was a little sharper but the BG and the wing position works for me.
Hi Dan, good flight pose with the downstroke of the wings. I like how we can see the mud covered bill, and I feel this is sharp enough where it counts.

The wing position is lovely as is the mud covered bill.
As you said, it is sharp-just not tack sharp over the dorsal view of the wings. Head and beak are fine though and that is most important,

I had a great time with you Dan! I think the bird is plenty sharp where it counts. Dan spent about 30 minutes photographing this Curlew; his patience paid off when the Curlew took off and flew right by him. This shot is most of full frame; not bad for an 80-400!
