I captured this image last November in the Kruger National Park. We parked our car at a low bridge which gave me perfect low angles. These Water Thick-knee's gave me a very interesting show and made for some stunning photography opportunities.

Wynand I liked this image despite the fact that bird is slightly angled away from viewer..Great IQ, Low angle and sharpness...I would tone down the green BG slightly. TFS

Hi Wynand,
This is excellent. Great low POV, like the watery trail from the beak. Lovely SA light. Good IQ.
For my taste, the composition is a bit tight on left and right and I can see the need for a tiny degree of CCW rotation.
How I wish I had started photography at age 16!
Agree that a bit more head rotation towards you would have been perfect but that is a very minor nit,
Gail

Very nice shot. Just love the reflection, excellent low angle, great details, and I think its a little tight in front and behind it.
Well done.

Hi Wynand, good to see you posting here again. :w3 An opportunity well used, and great that you managed a clear enough reflection. Good angle from your car, as I know Kruger is difficult to get a winning shot enclosed in a car. I agree a bit tight on either side, and maybe going with a horizontal comp would work better. Cheers.

Excellent image Wynand! I like the reflection, water trailing off the beak, details and setting. Another vote for some more room.

Tight comp and body angled away are bummer, but I love the low angle and drinking behaviour. Good techs and processing...nice reflection too!
