Spent 5 days on the Oregon Coast last week trying for Brown Pelican or Tern photos as both
species are migrants here this time of year.
Pelicans way off shore, only a couple Terns spotted and no shorebirds this time of year, so
I tried to make lemonade out of lemons. BIF practice trying to make interesting Gull photos.
BG is beach and Forest in late afternoon.

hahahaha.....glad you explained the tile Dan. That great eye catches my attention straight away, although a little more brightness on the face may help even more, and possibly a slight crop off the top of the image nice and sharp and nice wing form

Very nice detail on those wings and bill. Gulls can be fun, glad you found something to shoot.

Dan - great sharpness in the head and eye, nice detail and I like the wing position. Looks like the practice is paying off. I do find the colors coming through in the bg slightly distracting, especially the thick line above the tail.

Rachel

I'm never one to back down from gulls...glad you like them enough to consider photographing when your target species are not cooperating! Good wing position, and I like the BG. I could see this guy less tucked-in at right, and I feel the image has a reddish cast...here is a repost addressing the cast (added cyan in PS "Color Balance").

Thanks Daniel and others.
I think gulls at the coast (as opposed to the garbage dump gulls) are very worthy to photograph and I think the juveniles are attractive.
Your repost looks good, thanks for taking the time.
