    The original 18-270mm was an amazing lens for it's range.
    The VC was a good 4 stops and the AF surprisingly fast.


    Follow the link for technical details on the new lens. It now as a type of Ultra Sonic AF motor that is faster, quieter focusing and will work on Nikon bodies that don't have a drive motor built-in.

    LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., February 7, 2011 – Canon Inc. today announced the development of a new super-telephoto lens, the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM EXTENDER l.4x, for use with all EOS SLR cameras.     Though Iceland's puffins are quite accepting I approached this bird very carefully so as not to scare it off the cliff and incur the wrath of my group :) Making sharp images with a 70-200 and the 1.4X teleconverter should be child's play for all competent photographers.


    When most folks think of lenses for bird photography, they usually think of one of the super-telephoto focal lengths: 500, 600, or 800mm. But there are many times when lenses in that class are simply not the right tool for the job. ...
