James Shadle is an international award winning nature and wildlife photographer and Florida Master Naturalist, his work has been featured in numerous publications including: National Geographic Adventure Magazine, Outdoor Photographer Magazine, Audubon Magazine, National Wildlife Magazine, Pop Photographer Magazine, Shutterbug Magazine, and Visions Magazine, to name a few. He was born in Tampa, FL in 1958. He grew up in rural Hillsborough County. To this day he only lives a couple of miles from where he was raised.
His family members are Native Floridians and have been for generations. His father was a hunter, fisherman, and alligator poacher. As a child it was not unusual to see one foot alligators in the bath tub or three footers in the family pool. Eight foot gator hides were hung to cure out by the shed. His father left home when he was 14. His mom was left to raise 3 children on her own. James was now the “man” of the house. He quickly learned how to fix just about anything. Despite his 4.0 grade average, at 17 James left school to help support his family, He had earned his GED diploma well before the rest of his class had graduated.
