• Image of the Year Overall Winner Jeroen Stel

Once again, so many great images and only one IOTY winner!
      That winner is Jeroen Stel.
Please join me in congratulating Jeroen Stel for having his image "Bearded Reedling-Panurus-biarmicus " selected as the BirdPhotographers.Net Image Of The Year for 2012!

The image of the year contest is one of the benefits of being a BPN member. Only BPN members qualify to participate in the Image of The Week and Image Of The Year contests.BPN staff members are excluded from Image of the Week or Image of the Year consideration.

We want to be completely transparent about our selection process. In order to avoid even the appearance of favoritism, all staff members had the opportunity to participate in nominating and selecting the winners.
Here are the steps taken to select BirdPhotographers.Net's Image Of The Year.

      • First our staff members nominated one image from each image critique forum.

      • Second the nominated list of anonymous images were posted in a private selection forum.

      • Third our staff voted via poll for their favorite image in each category. If there was a clear cut winner, that became the Image Of The Year for it's category.

      • In case of a category tie, the images receiving equal votes were re-posted and voted on again until there was a winner by majority vote.

      • The ownership group selected the overall winner of BPN's Image Of The Year from the IOTY category winners .

Hand held, bracketing was not an option - too windy and the bee was wandering about.
