Bloomin’ Ideas 2- Day Workshop and Slide Program
at Bok Tower Gardens ~ Lake Wales, FL (Central Florida)

Dates: Saturday February 23rd and Sunday February 24th 2013
Friday Feb. 22nd at 3:00pm ~ one hour Slide Program/Lecture "The Softer Side Of Macro” (open to the public).
Cost: $350.00 ~ $315.00 (garden members)
Time: 8:00am- 3:00pm both days

Join me for a 2 day in-the-field photography and digital post processing workshop. I will teach you about composition including what I like to call "going with the flow of the subject" (I'll explain more about that during the workshop), how to use neighboring flowers to create pleasing backgrounds. I will talk about what elements to include in your compositions as well as what not to include. One of the biggest questions I get in the field is "How do you know where to focus?", during the workshop I will explain how I decide where to focus. Other subjects covered will be effective use of DOF, proper exposure, working with extension tubes, reflectors and diffusers. All of my workshops are centered around using natural lighting.
During our classroom time and also during my lectures I will be going over the Photoshop Filters and Plug-ins that I use on a daily basis. My demonstrations will cover some of my favorite tips, techniques and also my favorite settings. Participants are urged to bring their laptops and join in on the exercises. The classroom section will also involve Image Critiques, participants are urged to bring to the classroom (3) images each that they want some feedback on. Listening and offering critiques will help you decide what you do like and don't like about an image, which will help you in the field when creating your images.
*Admission to the gardens is included for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For years I have been using You Sendit and or Adobe Send Now. While in Sarasota giving my lecture fellow photographer Jeff Wendorff turned me onto Dropbox. It is a free service and they also offer a pay for use service. I am using the free service and it is going to be a great way for workshop clients to share their images with me and the rest of the group. I will also use it to share large files and view files from my phone. I just wanted to pass this on to others as I was thrilled to find out about it.

What is Dropbox?
Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. Any file
you save to your Dropbox will also automatically save to all your computers, phones, and even the
Dropbox website. This means that you can start working on your computer at school or the office,
and finish on your home computer. Never email yourself a file again!

How much space does my Dropbox have?
Free accounts come with 2GB of space (deleted files and revisions won’t count against your limit).
You can always check your usage by visiting your account settings page at https://www.
dropbox.com/account.

How long until my files are fully synced?
Dropbox will download as fast or as slow as your network allows, and will try its best to not hog
your connection. If you’d like to limit your upload or download rates, you can change them in
Dropbox’s preferences. For step by step instructions, visit the help article at https://www.drop-
box.com/help/26.

Dropbox is fast! How could it have possibly synced all of my files in that time?
Dropbox will look to see if it already has the file you’re trying to upload. If it senses that it
al- ready has the file, it won’t bother to upload it again. If the file has been changed recently,
it will only upload/download the changes rather than the whole thing.

How secure is Dropbox?
Dropbox takes the security of your files and of our software very seriously. Dropbox uses Secure
Socket Layer (SSL) and AES-256 encryption. AES-256 is the same encryption standard used by banks to
secure customer data.

Can I access Dropbox on my mobile device?
The Dropbox App is available for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry. To install Dropbox on your
mobile device, visit http://www.dropbox.com/anywhere. You can also get to your Dropbox
at any time by visiting http://www.dropbox.com from your phone.

I’m pleased to say that I have just finished my latest e-book, “Bloomin’ Ideas”. In “Bloomin’ Ideas”
I present an overview of the in-the-field and post-processing techniques that I have used and developed over the past few years to make my flower images special. This eBook features 55 all-new photographs. Though some of the topics have been covered previously in either “The Softer Side of Macro” or “A Guide to Creative Filters and Effects,” this eBook represents the first time that they are available in a single package. Those who love photographing flowers as much as I do will want to get their copy as soon as possible. *Knowledge of Photoshop layers and layer masks is recommended.
This 105 page, 12,000 word eBook available only through A Creative Adventure for $24.00 is available as a PDF download.
“From its beautiful cover image (KnockOut Rose with texture overlay and Fractalius) to the color wheel on page 102, Denise Ippolito’s latest offering is filled with her evocative flower images. Her work features uncommon perspectives, simple but powerful image designs, and soft colors–she is not at all afraid of being feminine. Denise uses a multitude of in-camera and post-processing techniques (including a variety of filters and effects) to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary and to turn almost any image into a piece of fine art. To do this she employs her incredible vision, her unbridled creativity, and her Photoshop skills. In Bloomin’ Ideas she will–in her informal, easy to read and easy to follow style–teach you to expand your creativity and greatly improve your flower photography skills. Whether behind the lens or sitting in front of a computer Denise Ippolito is the most consistently creative person I know.”
“Denise turns flower photography into a new realm of creativity. There are tons of flower images out there, but Denise’s PDF book Bloomin’ Ideas will help you stand out in this over crowded field. Bloomin’ Ideas is a must for anyone photographing flowers as it is Graphic, Creative, Beautiful, Insightful, Educational, and just a great learning experience.”
Designed by the renowned architectural firm of Carrére and Hastings to be a home for the industrialist John Pitcairn and his young family, Cairnwood evokes the grandeur of the Gilded Age with its intimacy, beauty and elegance. Cairnwood is located in historic Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania near the border of Bucks and Montgomery Counties. The grounds are 16 miles from center city Philadelphia and are easily accessible from Interstate 95, the Philadelphia Airport, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Cairnwood is part of a private college campus and shares its grounds with the Glencairn Museum and the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. Next to the house and grounds are the pristine woodlands of the Pennypack Nature Preserve, which represents the largest private reserve in Montgomery County, and serves as the anchor to this graceful campus of architectural wonders.
Not being able to work outside, I decided to make the best of it.

New dock line was on my list of items to replace and my son(Aaron) recently gave me a reel of 3/8 three strand rope.
Instead of buying dock line, I figured out how to splice rope and made my own.

The top is an eye splice, the middle is a back splice and the bottom is the rope as I started working with it.

My other project was to make sure every connector under the console had heat shrink on it. As it turned out, every connector needed to be replaced and heat shrunk.

Why heat shrink?

It completely seals out moisture, reducing the possibility of corrosion.

My Uncle Harry - he drummed into me "a job worth doing is a job worth doing right"

I believe overkill is underrated.

<img src="http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=101297&d=1317002712" border="0" alt="Name: _JAS7015.jpg

Eckla Multi Rolly Gear Carts
There are two different styles of Gear Carts by Eckla that are available at Outdoor Photo Gear. I added the Multi-holding bar shown near the bottom of the page to my cart. The best thing is that the carts are both light weight and fold easily to fit in the car. These are durable multi-function carts with all-terrain tires. The tires are very versatile and can go anywhere you need them to go; whether it’s over rough terrain or sandy beaches let these carts carry your gear instead of humping it on your shoulders or back! The no slip grips on the handles are fantastic and as soon as I saw them I knew I would like them. The handle is tall enough so that when you are rolling it you don’t hit the back of your ankles with the cart – which was one of the problems I was having with my homemade cart.

Receive a special discount available only at Outdoor Photo Gear be sure to use the code Creative for 10% additional savings and free shipping!. I am not making any money from the sale of these carts. This is not a paid advertisement. It is simply my need to find the right cart for the job and I believe that Outdoor Photo Gear has the right cart.
