Mississippi Kite - A fist for me and Louisville, Ky.

I took these photos about a month ago, and at the time, these images were the 1st documented photographic evidence of the mississippi kite in Jefferson Co (Louisville, Ky). This bird does occur in Ky, but the extreme western portion of the state.


The craziest part is, I was walking the dog about 5 houses from mine and i looked up into a tree and there was a bird that I have never seen before. Ran back and got my 5d iii and 800mm and the rest is history.

A big welcome to BPN. Neat to have such a rare sighting too!

A good looking bird, sharp and well exposed. As a document shot, this works well. From an aesthetic standpoint, challenged by the busy background and steep shooting angle.

I like the composition of the second image the best.

Thanks for the comments too, however i wasn't looking for a critique "from an aesthetic standpoint" or a critique at all. Thought it was a cool find and though members here would like it.

good find and I think you did the best you could with the situation you were given. Not the most artistic image but a good documentation of the bird visiting your area.
