Two red-bellied woodpeckers from this morning. They were REALLY busy today!!

D300, Sigma 50-500 at 500mm, f/11, 1/1000s, 0EV, ISO 640

Comments and critiques are really appreciated

Very nice Harold. Great that you got the nicely stretched wing. Only small comment (of which you have absolutely no control other than not taking the image) is the female's head needs to be turned ever so lightly to get a catch light. Minor distraction from a nice image.

I like it. Whatever were they doing??? I would rather see a good head angle without a catchlight (as here) than a poor head angle with a catchlight. You did very well with what looks like pretty harsh overhead light.

Mr. Harold,
I should have gone with you today; look what I gave up on...:( Anyway, I love your image and composition, and the action. I like the head angle also.. You did great buddy; keep them coming...:D

Nice "action" :D I might trim just a hair from the bottom. Looks like you did well with the lighting.

Pleasure shooting with you and good job with the birds of the bees! I'm going to have to check my time stamp! :-)

Cheers,
Jeff

Caught in the act, I guess ;)

Great capture, my friend. I woud sharpen the faces a bit more.

;)She looks bored!
Nicely done, Harold! I don't think her head angle detracts much at all.
