I found this Mantis Fly (probably Climaciella brunnea) last weekend. They aren't very common here so it's a treat to find one. Like a mantis, they capture other small insects with their front legs and they can turn their head to look at you. This species is a striking mimic of a paper wasp (Polistes sp.). 5D II, 100 mm macro, 1/160, f/16, ISO 100, light box, 2 remotely fired flashes, hand held. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Wow Steve, what a cool species. Have never seen one up close. Love those front claws. I think you captured this one very well especially with that head tilt toward you. great sharpness and tones. Well done!
