Red Shouldered Hawk

After having large amounts of rain filling up the ponds. I discovered this hawk trying to catch frogs or tadpoles

A great capture and must have been fantastic to see, like your thoughts about the reflection of this bird, however I think the focus is just behind the bird it seems a little soft whilst the grass is sharp, the head down with no eye contact doesn't help and for me it is cropped to tight.

Interesting behavior you caught here, Robert. I agree with Davids comments regarding the plane of focus being on the grass behind and the lack of eye contact. Challenging exposure situation with that bright sun and shaded underwing.
