Driving in an area that had received alot of rain, i happened upon this summer tanager. I shot off hand using the window frame of the car for a soldi mount. I was able to capture the photo, I was lucky to capture at such low light but my Is lens helped

Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF 500L IS lens with a 1.4 extender
1/40, f5.6, ISO 400, Exposure -2/3

Nice capture and impressive sharpness for 1/40 sec.

It looks just a bit dark on my monitor and I would crop a little off the top.

Nice bird. Needed a bit more d-o-f for the tail with this over-the-shoulder pose. I'd lose some off the top, some off the right, and the one twig on the left frame-edge.

Hi Robert,

Great color on the bird, in this shot I might pull the ISO on the 7D, at least ISO 800. Agree with Artie on the crop, IMO the HA its not perfect, maybe a little bit toward us.

This happened so fast i did not have time to many adjustments. Thanks for the tips i will incorporate next time
