Found this dragonfly in a field of weeds near a local pond today.

Stunning example, sharp and beautifully isolated from the background, the background colurs suit the subject nicely too. Possibly crop a small amount off the bottom, but that may be purely personal taste

I like the shot very much and I would suggest a 3:2 landscape crop.

Thanks for the comments. For comparison sake, here is the shot at a 3:2 ratio...

Yes I prefer the crop ratio, I don't know if it is an optical illusion - but in the original the dragonfly appears just a tad larger.

The original was cropped for a 12x16 inch print while the repost was cropped for a 12x18 inch size (3:2 ratio). The dragonfly appears smaller in the repost due to the required width of 1024 pixels but if printed in the sizes mentioned above I think the size of the dragonfly would be about the same (but in repost would still take up less of the overall image).

Hi Allen. Beautiful colors on this dragonfly which is giving you a great pose. I also like the diagonal of the perch and the multicolored OOF background. This is very nicely done!

This is a beautiful capture, Allen! In general the dragon looks great and the BG is killer! You don't mention it in the OP but your use of fill flash worked great with this subject. I'm pretty sure I would prefer this as a vertical.....maybe with the perch coming into the frame just to the right of the LLC. You might also consider lightening up the face and especially the thorax.....those areas look a bit dark to me.
