In case you missed it, here is an image of Venus transiting the sun June 5. I had a brief hole in the thick clouds.
Canon 1D Mark IV, 500 mm f/4 L IS lens + 2x + 1.4x stacked TCs, giving 1400 mm at f/11.2. Exposure at ISO 400, 1/400 second, through an Orion reflective solar filter and thin clouds.

Pretty cool Roger! Nice and sharp with that TC combo too!

Roger, could you describe how you use the Orion solar filter with the 500mm lens or does one of them just happen to fit it?

Hello Declan,
The model I got has a diameter almost the same as that of the 500 lens hood, so I just use duct tape. The filter is in a metal holder, so the duct tape is on the metal, and not on any part of the filter.

Thanks for sharing this, Roger! Excellent capture of a rare event. We had clouds all day without a break.

Thanks for posting this Roger. I did not see it due to heavy cloud cover here in Florida. Well done.
