Took this whilst photographing wildlife in Scotland. This bird was displaying well. Any comments appreciated as always.

I like the bird, the open bill and what he is standing on. I like the colors of the BG but it looks like I am looking at it through frosted glass.

Looks good to me though the background does look a little strange was there some photoshop done on this, just infront and behind the bird looks like whorls, may be just a heat haze, but you did say Scotland !

Thanks for the replies and comments. No photoshop on the background so can't really explain the haze. I did notice it looked odd. Is it just on the background? I think the bird is looking fairly clear.

nice pose and open beak adds more interest but the BG looks processed/unnatural this happens with too much NR or compression.

Thanks and yes your right in that I applied some noise reduction on the background. I'll go back and take another look at that. Thanks for the advice.

Nice good looking bird, nice pose with open beak. Do agree with Jack Williamson and others about BG.

Hey Simon, good looking specimen here, and it looks like it is giving a warning about photographing it! I agree about the BG and hope it is just a NR thing...not sure what your ISO how large the crop was but perhaps you did not need some NR to begin with? Harsh light you had to deal with, but the exposure is dealt with well.
