Finally getting to some more images from my August 2011 tour. Looking forward to my tour there in 2013! This was very early in the morning when we came upon this spurfowl on top of a termite mound. I liked the way you saw the spurs clearly.
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the 100-400 at 275mm at f/8 and 1/640 sec. at ISO 800 hand held.

I was going to say, I've never seen these in NJ. Where was your tour? As far as the image, it's a beauty. Love the complimentary perch, nice light, good eye contact, interesting details. Very nicely done.

Lovely light and great detail. I love the perch. A bit of what I think are sharpening halos but a small nit...I nice appealing image!

The bird looks great with the uniform blue BG, very well exposed and sharp. Pose and HA are just right and a great view of the spurs.

I like the looking up a bit at subject here. Gives a sense that the bird likes a high perch. Nice light and I like the colour and texture details around the head and throat.

Hey Roman, love the angle of pose, and what sweet light you have in this. The overall detail on the spurfowl is excellent, and just enough termite mound to not being overpowering.

We have these guys here, but without the yellow throat. ( Swainsons Spurfowl )

Amazing light and details, Roman. Low the spurs, the mound and the perfect HA. Superb!

Roman, light is indeed awesome. Great job in positioning yourself. Sharp details, perfect subtle head turn and exposure. If mine, Id have a tad more room above. It will make the angle appear a little less steep.
