I love capturing the close interaction between parent and child in all wildlife. Just watching it is always such a pleasure and this was a very fun and successful shoot for me. This started out as full body shots but they got too close to me and I didnt want to move to spook them. About a 35% crop

This is really nice Cheryl. I love the interaction and the prey and parent's slightly open beak.Colors are spot on.
Good IQ on both birds with your choice of DOF.
I think there are many interesting crop options here. Would look nice tighter from the left and also a bit looser crop as well.
I can't decide if the chicks head needs a bit more sharpening or if it is the fluffy feathers that are naturally soft.
All in all a great image and wish it was mine,
Gail

Hi Cheryl, good exposure on parent, and well timed to capture the special moment between parent and chick. The food item in the chicks bill adds interest, and I would leave the comp as is. Before reading Gail's comment, I aslo thought some selective sharpening is needed on the head of the chick. Love your sea BG.

This is my favorite of your captures of these guys, Cheryl. The comp is perfect to my eyes. Both subjects need some selective sharpening to my e yes.

Right smack dab on the money now, GF. This one is a contest winner!!!! We'll have to get out there next year when the chick is a little younger. :)

Agree with all the pluses. Very nice capture. However, the sharpening is too harsh for me on the chick in the repost. A chick is "soft."

One of your best for sure. Send it to a contest or two. Composition is superb. moment is there, balance is there...exposure looks good. has it all IMO. Superb work.

This is the type of photograph I'm dreaming of creating!!!! Bird portraits are beautiful in their own right but this type of subject matter is just wow.

Thanks a bunch!!! You've just given me the inspiration I need at the moment!
