You spoke and I listened!
Still not the most perfect of perches but less overwhelming than the last one.
Canon 1D MKIV
ISO 640
SS 1/800
f 6.3
Cropped by ~ 20%
Cloned out a yellow petal that was touching the bottom of the frame
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

Bingo, wow you learn fast!
I think cropping some off the left would look nice.
The bird and perch look great.

I thought about that Dan, but then worried that the bird would be too centered,

Wonderful job,Gail. I really like the BG, the framing of the bird, and his pose. I think cropping on left would make it a bit too centered, and I might take a little off the right, if anything. I only wish for a bit more of a head turn to feel more of a sense of engagement. But I would be very happy with this. Nice work!

Works for me, Gail.

Sometimes we get lost in the techincal stuff that we forget the important thing... enjoying this wonderful hobby.

Very pretty Gail. The goldfinch is excellent. Yellow flowers are always difficult to expose for me on a setup and I almost always have to select them in post and tone them down.

Very successful, Gail! The only suggestion would be to have selected a perch that extended out of the frame on the right, rather than ending, but I know that the birds don't always land exactly where you would like!

Excellent picture, Gail.
It's funny that this bird is so common here and I hardly have any good picture of it yet.
I only have one male and one female images.

Cute! I like the matching flower, and beautiful background. Lot's of comp possibilities as proven by the suggestions...here's one more! I'd actually see a bit MORE below (and left to retain ratio) to balance that larger flower as it feels bottom heavy :-) I would have loved a tiny bit better HA too, but still very much OK as is. Well done overall!

Hi Gail, why did I know that you would go out and get it right second time. :w3 Nicely framed between flowers on the left, and the curved twig on the right. I like how the goldfinch's colours match that of the flowers, and your BG works well. I feel Dan's suggestion of more room at the bottom, and a little off the right will work best. Cheers.

Very nice, if it were mine I would crop a bit off the right and add a bit to the abse putting the bird on the intersection of thirds.
