I am not entirely sure but I think this is a South East Asian soft backed terrapin. I was photographing great crested grebes and the nest nearest to me had been abandoned. All of a sudden this terrapin appeared, I am assuming it had been released into the pond several years ago once it's owner got bored with it.
All C & C welcome, if you think it is something else please let me know.

Jonathan,

A welcome "alien" hopefully. It is not often you get these in the open even our African versions. What a strange snout?

Very nice indeed the webbed foot is a very good bonus.

Hi Jonathon, would look at giving the subject some more selective USM and perhaps try a pano 512px high (or just a fraction more 550px) crop.

Hi Jonathan,
I like the POV and the composition of your image. Maybe selective USM as mentioned by Steve will work.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes,
Mark.

Thanks for the C&C everyone, I am a little surprised at the sharpening suggestion but I will try it out.
