I have always been drawn to water from a little kid fishing for Sunfish and Smallmouth Bass in the creeks of Pennsylvania to the Atlantic Ocean and it Bays, Inlets, and Tidal Flats hunting Snook. Nature has a rhythm and no were is this more evident then at a shoreline when water meets land one can here the pulse of the world my hope is that image captures that in a small way.
Thanks for looking

1D MKIII, 17-40 f/4 at 17mm, 15s at f/16 (I am really liking the effect of dragging the shutter on my ocean images), Manual Mode, Evaluative Metered, ISO 100, Raw, warming polarizer and 2 stop hard edge Grad

Don, it works for me in every way except it needs a drop of CW.

When I looked at the OP, the LHS just felt thicker from the water to the top of the image. I simply did a scroll of the OP to put the horizon line against a straight line on my monitor.

Not much of a landscape critique guy.....just stopping by to say this caught my attention! I love how you made something so interesting of mostly neutral tones. Great foreground and depth. Very peaceful feel.

Did the warming polarizer benefit you here? Doesn't seem you're at enough of an angle to the sun to matter. I know you said it's a "warming polarizer" but wouldn't it be better to adjust your WB as needed rather than put another piece of glass between your lens and the image?

Hi Colin, take a look at these links regarding the use of "glass between your lens and the image":

Colin, Thanks for taking the time to comment on my image the warming polarizer was bought when I was using film so at the time it did effect the wamrth of my images today I use it reduce the reflections on the rocks and to help slow the shutter down to get that silky water.

Don - this works well. I too like the effect of the longer exposure on the water.

Don Lacy! Take a bow and frame it, then hang it! What else does someone want out of an image than this! Well "crafted", and I do mean crafted, like art! I really like this one.

Grady said it well.

You've certainly used all the skills at your disposal to make a stunningly soft and gorgeous image from the silky water to the pastel sky. You have triangles and diagonals all over the place which gives so much strength and interest.
