Hi all. This image was taken last Saturday at Gatorland. Lots and lots of families happening for sure. Taken with the D200, Nikon 500mm f4, f7.1, iso 400, 1/750. Thanks for looking and commenting.:)

I am a big fan of nesting, habitat images. I like the deep greens and the clean whites here. The tree behind the top bird is ok, not to distracting. And all 3 family members are loking at you. I like the shape the birds form as a group. Overall it is a nice one to me.

Busy image but not overwhelming. Like the dark greens, excellent exposure job on the white. Good head angles on the entire family and the open beaks are a nice bonus.

Hi Nancy,

There is a lot of dead space in this image. I do like the habitat. However I think this image needs a tighter crop. I also think by moving 3 steps to the right you probably were able to remove the distracting tree in the BG.

This type of images are not easy to get, especially because you have to have everything to work for you. With that said, the good thing is that the bird are there for you to keep trying.

Thanks!

Hey Nancy,
I like your image the way it is for my taste. The background shows the bird's habitat. Love the rich colors and the action of your image...:D

Congrats...

Well done. A crop from the bottom could eliminate the Queen Anne's Lace blossom that you cut in half. I do not think that moving right would have been a good idea as you would have lost the nice profile view. Two out of three good head angles. And nice soft light.

Thanks all for your comments and kind words:). I like these types of habitat images myself Gus, but as Maxis says it is difficult to find the RIGHT environment. I have had people buy these from me as gallery wraps. And Art thanks for the recrop idea.
