Photographed during a MA Audubon survey of the largest heronry in Massachusetts. Only a small group of people go out to this island one day a year to survey it, so I was fortunate to be one of the few. Three others and I counted the nests of Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Glossy Ibis, and Black-crowned Night Heron. We discovered a White-faced (!) Ibis nesting amidst the Glossys, although we were unable to confirm if it was breeding with a Glossy, or another White-faced. This represents only the second nesting attempt for New England, and about the third for the northeast. Here's one of the high-breeding Great Egrets perched up in some really nice dawn light.

Ryan:

Handsome bird with nice breeding colors, well exposed, nice blue sky (a small puffy cloud or two separate from the bird wouldn't hurt however :S3:)

I might consider a very slight crop from the right. I appreciate you didn't want to crop the leaves, but I think the bird would be more effective moved to the right a bit.

Thanks for the information too!
Cheers
