Common Poorwill
Workshop: Bill Forbes Pond, Amado, Arizona
D800, 300/2.8, ISO 800, F18, Continuous 8 sec shutter, Multi-Flash triggered by Bill Forbe's PhotoTrap.
With Bill Forbes help, I was able to pull of this image tonight at his pond.I set up wide enough to insure getting the bird in the frame, and even after cropping the D800 image, I was left with a 146 MP file. The best part was sharing this great experience with my participants, who all got the shot as well.

Hi Alan, nice shot and thanks for explaining how you did it, I want to photograph bats drinking at a pool and this will work for them as well.

this is excellent, super dynamic pose plus you got some hint of BG which adds to the image. I would add a bit space on top.
excellent work

Hi Riaan, I also had another lens and camera set up tighter for Bats, which came in many times. So much fun.

Wonderful shot Alan of this very elusive bird!
Like the wing position and those large eyes.

Excelent capture, I do see Arash point of view about space above, but also think it works like this.
Also have a Bill Forbe's PhotoTrap for more than a year, but havenīt got much time to try it, maybe this year for some bats or owls.

awesome shot, Alan. terrific multi-flash setup to get those eyes without any kind of red/steel effect.
