Another taken on my 2010 small boat cruise of Prince William Sound, Alaska. This one is from the following morning. The light was hitting just right to really bring out the blues. We watched the glacier calving for a few hours.

Canon 50D
100-400 @ 100mm
1/2000
f5.0
ISO 400
HH from moving boat, full frame. Luminosity mask, levels, curves, some selective dodging and burning, a couple of the actions posted by Morkel.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Nice diagonal on the crashing ice. I would remove some of the FG "clean" water. Suggest leaving enough to act as a border along the bottom but not significant enough to catch the eye.

Same suggestions as your previous post Rachel.

1) Local Contrast enhancement using USM on a BG Copy at 20/50/0 and change to taste. This will enhance detail in the glacier and rocks and cut through the haziness.
2) Sharpen it some more after the LCE.

Thanks Robert. Here's a repost following your suggestions.

Thanks again,

Love the repost Rachel, seems to have picked up more detail. Cropping off some of the water has added to the drama. Very nice.

I like this, Rachel, and the repost has certainly improved it. Nice blue tones and the falling ice adds a dynamic element to the shot.

Hi Rachel

I looked at the OP but dident comment because I was not sure about how I felt about it... But the second post is much improved, seems to draw my attention to the crashing ice making it a lot more menacing/dramatic..

Can only add my 2c worth here , but the repost brings out a special detail to a interesting natural moment ! I can only imaging the sounds.

Thanks Andrew, it's the sound that draws you in first. You hear a loud crack/boom and then look to see where the ice is falling.

Thanks again,
Rachel

Hi Rachel, very nice blue ice. I like the overall composition and Robert's repost puts a little more emphasis on the glacier. Must be pretty amazing to hear the crack and boom you mention. Lovely work!
