I liked the tree almost as much as the Swallow.

Nice pose and I too like the tree. However, image quality suggests a significant crop and there are very little fine detail.

nice pose and display of the nest. I think something went wrong with processing as it looks over sharpened and a bit mushy....

I too see what they guys are talking about, probably a rework is in order. LOVE the tree, and would like to see a bit more on the right side (Moss). Can't wait for feeding shots.

I agree with Arash. (and I like the image composition also)
Can you bring the (original, not proceesed) raw file on a stick to the meeting this weekend?
I'd like to take a look.
Something is not going well for your processing, unless this is a really big crop?

What a cool nest location!!! Nice pose from the swallow. A bit more TLC on the processing will surely help, but I wonder if there is a time of the day you can get better lighting on the whole scene. Very nice opportunity here, hope you get the chance to monitor the progress of this nest.

This was a real case of trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear and I appreciate the honest critiques.
I sometimes just fall in love with an image and really should just keep it to myself.
This was a HUGE crop, way beyond even the D800.
It was not great light and even though the iso was only 800 (low for the the camera), the big crop just didn't work.
I didn't think it looked that bad on my monitor, but was not really worthy of posting.
Here is the original out of camera, just converted to Jpeg.
i still like the tree a lot and will go back and try to get a closer shot.

Dan,
Crop should not be an issue. Based on the FF image your crop is about 5 Mpixels, this is more than enough for small BPN posting size which is less 700K pixels. The main issue here is processing, if you can upload a TIFF file somewhere I'm sure people here can work on it and get a better output.
