Light quality: soft and pleasing to the eye.
Composition: Very solid. Subject placement is right on, and I like the way the perch moves through the frame.
Details: Excellent, perfect sharpening imo.
The perch has some nice character too....excellent image overall.

Hi Jim, I like how the perch runs through the frame, and the cardinal has given you a great pose. Excellent sharpness for such a slow ss, and your BG works well. ( what is it? ) I like the softer reds on the cardinal, together with the raised crest. I would try a version with a touch more contrast on the cardinal. :w3

Thanks for the comments Shawn, Jeff and Stuart. Stuart the BG is an OOF tree trunk of a big distant Maple. I will try a version with increased contrast and see how it looks.

agree with the other guys above.excellent IQ.but i ask myself about the colors.to me the whole image is too red.it would be nice if you post your images with an embedded profile.

Beautiful, such fine details around her head and beak. Love the complimentary color of the background and the perch. It adds subtle interest without overpowering your subject.

another nice image of this specie, if it's a setup you may want to experiment with different perches that have leaves and berries on them! Alan has a guide about how to do this!!!
