Here's another image from last year's cruise to Alaska. Sitka was out first stop. The day started out, as usual, being heavily overcast.

Canon Rebel XT, Sigma 50-500 @363mm, F 8.0, ISO 400, 1/320 sec. Handheld from Tender boat.

With the curving shoreline it's not clear whether or not I should have given it a touch of CCW rotation.

I like the deep greens behind the lighthouse, it helps to show off the tower and buildings. Most lighthouses are in wet, rainy locations. And this scene certainly with the overcast misty look sets a cold mood. To me it says"Lighthouse" loudly. To my eye, it does not need rotating. Keep posting them Stephen and thanks for sharing.

Very nice saturated colors, Stephen. I don't think it needs rotation.

Hi Stephen,
I cropped to make a pano. IMO.......just emphasizes without removing the mood.

PS Maybe I'm hanging out in the pano forum too much!

Thank you Grady, Gus, Harold, Gayle and Roman.

Roman the pano works well here. In the original I was going for an approximate Rule of Thirds (1/3 water, 1/3 shoreline & 1/3 sky/clouds).

Stephen,

Great looking image. I like the pano and that was what I was going to suggest but Roman beat me to it. I don't think it needs a rotation but when confronted with trying to figure it out, and I have a building in the image, try doing it off a straight edge on the building.

Nice work here.

My first thought when looking was to crop out some of the water in the foreground. Then I looked and Roman did just that and made a pano. Great image to start but I like the pano better.
