One of my major reasons for visiting South African National Parks is to try to get some decent images of the lesser known animal species. This animal was nearly hunted to extinction in the late 30's there were estimated to be around 300, thanks to the great work of amongst others SANPARKS, there are now over 10,000 living in national parks and private concessions. I am sure most of you would agree that it is far more beautiful than the "normal" Gnu.

This image was taken in Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa,22nd April 2012, on a rather dull day!

nice portrait of this "looker", Ken :bg3:
good detail in the darks and the eyes are nicely defined

I too don't have that many usable/quality images of these guys...they can be even more "clownsy" in their behaviour!

Ken - nicely done. I don't think I've seen these. Nice pose and detail.

Thanks everybody for your comments, whilst images of the "Big 5" and all of the cuties made popular by overexposure on TV may arouse more interest, I like the rest just as much if not more:w3
