Here is another stilt shot which I hope you don't find too boring. I like the walking pose while flying!

1D4 700mm f/5.6 1/3200sec ISO 1600. I had to deal with mixed and rapidly changing light fortunately this one came out OK

Light looks a bit strong , but well handled. Love the pose and wing position. The eye looks to be just a touch soft? May be my monitor.

I reckon it came out ok too - very ok! The focus is spot on and the detail in the darks and lights is first class. I think the vertical crop was a good idea.

Hi Arash, great banking angle showing the dorsal view very well. You have brought out the colours so well, and this is tack sharp. Love the BG too, although I would have blended in the darker strip at top, or cropped it away. :w3

I feel this is one of your best Stilt images.

IQ, details, DOF coverage, head&bill parallel...all good. loved the top view and the pose, as you say, is very unique.

I love everything about this one, the SH, perfect EXP, the amazing pose, the upper wing and back detail, the dangling feet, the superb head angle, and pretty much everything else. If it were mine, I would have but the bird a bit farther back in the frame.

Tripod or hh?

I like the top down POV. Question- is this a female? The reason I ask if that I filmed stilts mating a few days ago and the females seemed consistently to have a slightly brownish back, where the males were jet black.

I believe that this is a first-winter or at least an almost one-year old bird....

Tripod or hh?

Thanks Artie, I don't have a tripod (well have a cheap one that would collapse if I mounted the 500) :bg3: I see your point about more space, will try to move it the stilt further back in the frame

Thanks everyone for nice comments.

The brownish back indicates a juvenile bird as this one:
