5.49am.
Rarely seen in Hippo's and a privilege to witness.
Taken from a microlight over the Luangwa river. Cutting some of the hippos in this frame was unavoidable I'm afraid.:e3
According to my pilot John, this hippo is leucitic and not albino as it had some pigmented spots and dark eyes. He had given this one up for dead as he hadn't seen it for nearly 4 years.
Leucistic animals often do not survive in the wild as they are visible to predators and get sunburnt, this one was quite mature and doing OK.
The fleeing croc, lower left, was a welcome addition.
D700 70-200VRII 1/320s f/5.6 ISO1250 @ 70mm. F/F. Luangwa River, Sth Luangwa NP- Zambia. Nov 2011.
C & C most welcome
Cheers
