Hi Ian. I like the soft-lighting look and the DOF with the sharpest focus on the center of the flower. I'm not so sure about the "flower floating in a field of black" look - but that is subjective and largely a matter of taste. :S3: It will be interesting to see what others have to say.

An interesting take on the flower, floating it in black like that. It's not what I'd want on my wall, but then it is also an interesting step in learning to create. The center is sharp. Wish the left edge were as sharp. Keep experimenting and sharing! I always like to see a new perspective!

The center is sharp where it matters. I like seeing a different perspective with the floating but think I'd like to be able to compare it to one that isn't floating to determine which I Prefer.

Very nice Ian. I would have liked more dof and just a hint of stem although I like it as is.

Thanks, folks. I'm at work so my editing tools are minimal and I'm working off the JPEG, but did you mean something like this, Jack?

Yes Ian, that looks good.

Hi Ian...I much prefer your op. I like the sense of light with the darker version. The only thing thet bothers me is how the right side of the flower drops off so suddenly

Thanks, Bob. That drop-off is where the edge of the flower curls under and maybe a little bit more DOF would have made it more apparent.

That repost is much better IMO! You also cut down the blue cast on the whites and that was my other comment. Nicely done, Ian!

Hi Ian, of the 2 versions, I prefer the repost but I think I would really prefer something between the 2. I do like the hint of a stem in the repost. If this were mine, I'd probably crop away much of the black, moving the flower towards the UL.

Lovely lily! I prefer the repost. I'd be happy to see even more of the stem, but, not a big deal. I would crop all around. Thanks for sharing.
