Sanjeev,

Really like this picture, as I get older I am more and more in favor of the f/8 aperture especially with no background to mute. The f/8 - f/12 apertures are more for story telling and this photo does just that. I love the simplicity of the image and also am drawn to pictures that show birds in regal and\or thinking poses - just something I like. Was the image a bit underexposed, does the histogram clip on the left hand side. The blacks might be a bit blocked but then again you might want that look. Many photographers use shadows and light to set a mood make the image more compelling.

You have no doubt have read my comments about low ISO speed and higher speeds provide more exposure flexibility but at 1/500 you had plenty of shutter for a fixed subject. Nice picture, did you run noise reduction, thanks for posting.

Thanks Jeff for the kind words, glad you liked the image! Your words are a big encouragement for me. I did run noise ware pro NR software in PS CS5. I guess I should run NR only on the BG and not the bird itself. The image was a bit under exposed and I used S/H tool in PS.
Regards
Sanjeev

Yes, run on background only - nice tutorial on this in APTATS II but with basic post skills you can do this with a layers and brushing on a mask. Let me know if you need any help.

Keep up the good work!
