The Spit Nature Reserve, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

Nikon D7000 with Nikon 600mm f/4G ED VR AF-S and Nikon TC-14E
GITZO GT5541LS and WH-200 Wimberley Head Version II

ACR edit then Lens blur in Photoshop applied on background to soften. Tonal adjustments and sharpening.
He was constantly moving so I used a high shutter speed

ISO: 1000
Aperture: 8
Shutter: 1/1000
Exp. Comp.: -0.3

Your bird is sharp, with good head angle, good framing, pleasant BG.

For my tastes it could go about 1/3 stop brighter.

I think the subtle increase in the exposure does open up the dark areas on the face enough that it looks better. You might be able to go even a smidge more, but a personal call.
