From last evening on a North Shore beach, Long Island Sound. When the tide receeds, it creates beautiful rivulets of water as seen here.

I think this is what perfection looks like.... love those rivulets, the superb light and pose, and the IQ, Grace. Fantastic image.

Beautiful image, colours, light. I only wish the shadow on the far leg wasn't there, but I'd be happy to call this one mine.

Grace:

Lovely little fellow with interesting BG that doesn't detract from the subject. The strong lighting on the subject allows it to hold our eyes's interest despite the contrasts of light and dark in the BG.

Nice techs too.

Cheers

Nice bird and image design. Sharp with a good EXP. I'd clean up with white bits on the mud. And a nice look-back head angle.

I am 100% sure that she was not laying (anything) in the mud. And about 90% sure that she was not lying on the mud. It looks as if the lens were two to three feet above the bird.

The DOF is really nice, the FG is sharp as the bird and makes a nice scene for the very nice light.

Grace, this is superb. The not so see very often environment here makes it a very interesting photo. Love these little guys and unless they are standing still are very hard to get. Sharp, exposure looks great!

This is a stunning capture, Grace. Love the contrast between the plover and the BG. Nice head turn. IQ excellent. Love it.

My description says that I was on a lowered tripod, I'm guessing my lens was two feet off the ground. So Artie is correct. The beach slopes upward slightly which does give an impression of a lower angle than I was actually shooting at. The plovers tend to find their food in the shallows formed by the rivulets and I loose feet when I get lower than I was. Hope this makes sense. Plus I like the colors and patterns that I see from this angle.

Hi Grace, just love the soft late light in this, and you have captured a great pose and HA. Good sharp feather detail, and the plover pops so well from the surrounding BG. Well captured.

Excellent detail and framing, and the light is beautiful. I would have preferred a slightly lower angle of view, though. Well done!

Grace, great light and surroundings. And the bent leg. Sharpness is spot on...so is the head position and exposure. If mine, I'd have taken some off the top...could be personal preference though.
