Another image from my 2009 trip to the Galapagos that I revisited.

Canon 50D
100-400 @ 400
1/500
f8
ISO 400
HH, luminosity mask, levels, curves, NR selectively to bg, sharpened in CS5.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel, a handsome character isn't he? They really do have that dinosaur look that Ray Harryhausen brought to life in his films.

I like the stance/posture, almost 'bring it on, look, with that alert eye, with nice facial detail and the scales almost have a chainmail look & feel. I might look at reducing the Blue overall and wonder if it's slightly big in frame, WDYT?

Rachel, I think this is a fine image and I quite like the gun metal sheen over the lizard. Very nice detail although I would agree that a slightly looser crop would be worth looking at as an option.

Hi Rachel,
I like the detail in your image. The crop is fine for me, however the tail of the iguana in the background is a little distracting, especially as it crosses the head. I realise that it would have been difficult to get rid of it as it would have affecting the image composition. I hope you don't mind, but I did a quick blur of the background by 2 pixels and decreased the brightness. What do you think? It was done quickly, so it can be improved on.
Best wishes,
Mark.

Thanks Steve, Hilary and Mark. This is full frame so no more room around to loosen the crop. Mark - repost looks good.

Thanks again,
Rachel

I think this is a cool shot and like it as posted. Such a great pose but this lizard. I don't mind the tail in the BG, I think the "saw-like" appearance adds to the prehistoric look.

Love these wee beasties and I also thought this was a tad too bright when I first viewed it so I like what Mark did in his repost.

What a character! Nicely exposed with good detail, Rachel.
As posted I might shave a hint of space off the LHS, and look at reducing blues as per Steve's suggestion.

I couldn't help myself - cropped to portrait and " monochromified"...WDYT? :e3
(in people photography the use of B&W enhances interesting/emotive expressions, so I thought it could work on this 'mean guy')

Thanks Morkel. I had also tried a conversion on this one but decided I prefer the color. Your crop and conversion certainly make him look meaner. :S3:
