This is a really nice shot Dan. I like the look back pose, the colors of the water and grasses, and the DOF between the little hill he's on and the rest of the grasses in the BG. It has a nice "rolling hills in the distance" feel for me.

Dan, I think that's pretty special. IQ's great, I love the colors and composition. Might argue for a smidge more space on the left if you have it, to get his eye out of the center, but it works great as is.

WoW!!! Very nice shot. I love the look back pose, excellent head angle, detail is just great. I really like the background and the perch. Very nice. If mine I would just remove the oof twig in between its legs, minor nit.
Very well done.

A super image...the IQ is brilliant. The BG is looking beautiful, would like to see a little more of it.
Very well taken.......

wow...that close, huh? great opportunity. the look back pose with crossed legs is awesome. loved the grass at the bottom. If mine, I'd include a tad more there.

Very nicely captured - great pose looking back.

If it were mine, I'd get rid of the black blob above the head, and it seems soft to my eyes on the large monitor. I would wish it wasn't so close to the left edge.

I think I'd do some edit and sharpening like this

Very beautiful Dan, I like the look-back and the crossed legs. Very good IQ. I agree with Don that it needs a little more sharpening. This is outstanding for that D7000, I am looking forward to some FX full resolution images from the D800.

A real nice image. A nice look back pose and crossed legs add a lot. Habitat looks great especially the in focus grass at bottom. I would add a bit to bottom and left. Very well done.

Thanks all for the comments and Don, I like the repost.
I had some room at the bottom but it was OOF, and didn't add to the photo.
It was a beautiful scene, Laguna Beach, California.
