Felicitations! Here is a mockingbird for your visual perusal. Will this appeal to you? I'll wait and see!
Taken with the Canon 7D and 200mm f2.8L at iso320, 1/1600, f3.5
Cropped to one of my favorite shapes! Of course I'll be delighted to hear your comments and ideas and suggestions, etc etc.
All the best,

Nice wingstretch. The whites in the tail are a bit lost due to the white sky. Bird and perch could be brighter. A tighter horizontal crop would lessen the amount of negitive white space.

Jack, I don't think I can buy the square on this one. Maybe could stand knocking down the highlights a bit, and selectively bringing up some contrast on the bird and perch. I envy you the Mockingbirds -- I just get a quick shot at them now and then when I visit the grandkids in Arizona, but I especially miss their rather spectacular musical repertoire.

Thanks folks...for me, it's the white on white of the tailfeathers and sky that make the shot. I'm quite fond of this shot as-is, but your critiques certainly seem logical and make sense to me. Something to think about, that's for sure...

Hello again. I've made a few changes to the image and would love your opinions! I didn't touch the white tailfeathers b/c I very much like the white-on-white but I did brighten some of the bird and slightly sharpened the head and changed the crop significantly. i'll welcome your comments!

Looking at a crappy monitor at work, so can't comment much on the image (except that it looks sharp to me), but I do like the crop better. Still could use some off the top, IMO, maybe 1/3 the distance from top to bird, or a bit more.
