I like the nearly square format, the composition, the luminance of the blue petals, and the combination of blue and brown. The only thing I wonder about is how it would look with the background just a tad lighter.

That's a real beauty, Grahame.

I concur with Dennis' comments, but would add one twist.

Picking up on his suggestion on a lighter background, I find myself wondering how it would look with the background the same, and the flower itself just a bit lighter.

I think one adaptation or the other would bring the flower to the fore.

I like the comp and the dark BG but the flower feels kind of flat. I just tried boosting the contrast, regular and legacy, and it really added some needed pop to the flower. Each version of the contrast adjustment did something completely different and I liked both versions.

Nice composition and beautiful subject. I agree with lightening the flower some. I like the dark stone BG.

Very pleasing composition. I second the comments on the lightness and contrast.

Hi Grahame. I'm late to the party, but you already have some excellent suggestions above. If you do some experimenting with lighting and contrast I think you will come up with several different results - each of which will be pleasing in its own way. :S3:
