Here's a nesting peregrine falcon from the Hudson River. The BGD is tree tops and part of the Palisades Cliffs. Shot from 500 feet elevation. mk IV, 800 f5.6, iso 640, 1/2000, f7.1 from the wimberley/gitzo.

super bank pose and love the Bg too. head looks a bit soft to me though.

Herb, excellent bank and top-side view. Agree that the head looks a bit soft...but a fine image still. these guys are so fast...am sure its not easy to keep the af point near the head.

A superb flight pose but it is a little soft owing to what I presume is a fairly large crop?

Due to the birds turning angle, I think this would work well as a vertical, while still keeping the nice background in the shot. Here is a quick example. What do you think?
