Loon Suddenly Took Off

I followed this loon almost 2 hours in canoe waiting for the moment he will take off. But, at the moment he did, well, i was too close with my 100-400 lens. But i did this photo anyway and present the result. What do you think?

Were you zoomed out to 100mm??? The wings up position and the splash are great, but you had your canoe in the wrong place thus the poor light angle and the overeposed neck. The clipped wingtips are fatal and the eye is funky/soft. The eye could be fixed with a variety of techniques including darkening the pupil.
