Here is a different Owl from the last one I posted another nice habitat image that give a nice feel for the Oak hammocks they live in.

1D MKIII, 300 f/4, 1/1000 at f/5.6, Manual Mode, Evaluative Metered, ISO 800, RAW, HH, Cropped and the Owl was called.

Nice perch, pose and exposure. Steep angle is visible but it works for me here and you did well not to let head merge with the tree trunk in BG.

Hi Don, perfect positioning from your side, so as not to merge the top of the owls head with the OOF branch behind him. I like the alert stare, and you have brought out the detail nicely. The placement and comp work well.

Agree with Sachin and Stuart - in particular the separation from the branch above the owl.

Nice looking owl. Very sharp and with a special pose. A bit steep there but there's not much you can do about it.

Nice pose and well exposed. Not much you could have done about the high perch and well done to get some daylight between head and the big branch.

Excellent Owl shot Don, showing the habitat.
I have a few of this Owl from South East Florida, but none are so clean as yours.
I mean the head is merged with a branch behind on mine.

A nice image with nice composition. Agree with others about shooting angle and avoiding the head merge. Love the pose and the visible talons and the moss,
Gail

Excellent lighting on this owl. I like the high up perch with the Spanish Moss hanging from it.

The angle doesn't bother me at all.
Separation is excellent and the perch is great.
Owls are tough, they are usually perched high and yours looks fine to me.
Very nice details.

cool pose and details, nice light a bit more head turn would further improve it
