Great symmetrical pose. IQ is outstanding. Did you really only have SS at 1/500? I find that I need at least 1/2500 to get them sharp when in a dive like this,

I normally don't comment on your photos; I just admire them. Awesome as always. The question about the SS also came to my mind. I'd also love to know your workflow how you get the detail in the plumage so nicely visible in all of your photos including this one. Are you using NIK or pure PS work?

Much respect,

Lorant

Was an owl decoy used to get this interaction?

Hey Guys, typo on the shutter. It should be 1/5000.

No decoy Owl Jim.

Detail comes from a combination of things. Good camera, post processing in PS.

Stunning pose and techs!!! The tight square composition in the only weak element in this awesome image IMHO. Here is a repost with some space for it to fly in.

Hey Ofer, the version that is going on my website is a vertical 3:2 ratio crop. I cropped it square to show detail on this forum with limited posting size. Thanks.

Outstanding capture, superb pose, intense concentration.

How are you finding the auto focus on the D4?

Cheers

Hey Randy, it's the best auto focus I have ever used. The new toggle (sub command dials) are fantastic for getting the focus sensor in the porition you want really fast.

Hi Alan, you can present your work as you see right - no question about it. However, since many (including myself) consider you as one the best bird photographer in the world and since we all learn from your superb work - I think it is appropriate to present your images with all the elements including composition.

The vertical is fantastic!!! Looks much better than the original post IMHO. I chose to repost this as a horizontal as the bird is bigger in the frame but I like your vertical better.

The vertical is a beautiful presentation. The pose is out of the ball park!!!! The definition in the plumage is insane.
Far out......

How's the ego, Mr Murphy? Here, I'll give this image a critical analysis: your bald eagle shot is highly unmusical and I can't dance to it. Hmm. Wait. That doesn't make any sense, and truth be told, there is a little bit of music here. This is splendid and wonderful and I love the crop and I am smiling as I gaze upon this whizbang picture!

Alan, stunning pose. I actually like the square crop...although I admit I was surprised to see it from you :-) you always stick to 3:2. To get this pose AND this head position is just great.
